MY WORLD: CHRISTMAS

I think that Christmas is the best time of the year. For me, it is very beautiful time to share with the family and friends. I really like this time of the year. People give and receive presents, they do hugs and kisses. People enjoy it, but the kids enjoy it a lot more because they think that these presents are brought by the Three Wise Men or Santa, depending on where you live. The cities are very beautiful because are decorate with lights. There is a big spirit of Christmas, people sing songs with the streets and more. People decorate their houses too.

In Catalonia, the 24th of December make the "Tió". It is a catalonian tradition. The kids hit the "Tió" with a stick while they sing a song. Then, they raise the blanket and under the "Tió" are the presents. Then, the 25th of December, people normally eat with their family and the 26th of December is other traditional day in Catalonia, is "Sant Esteve". People have got festivity and they don't go to work. 

FIRST TERM REFLECTION

I think that this year is being a bit more difficult than last year. This year the subject is divided into  three categories and I am in the most difficult one. The project that I enjoyed the most was the horror project. I enjoyed writing it. However, I hated doing the entrance of my world, because I didn't know what to talk about. I also enjoyed doing the one which talks about my favourite song because as I said, I love music.

I think that the most important is that this year I am improving a lot compared to the last year because I have worked a lot and I have written lots of essays and this helped me to improve my English. Sometimes I find writing essays is difficult for me but I also understand it's the best way to learn. I hope I can keep doing well in the future months. 

THE MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGER: Edgar Allan Poe

This story talks about a detective called Monsieur Auguste Dupin and his friend who is the narrator. In the Rue Morgue there was a murder. They see in the newspaper that someone in the night killed Madame L'Espanaye and her daughter, Madmoiselle Camille L'Espanaye. The police don't know which is the reason of this murder but an inocent man goes to jail. Dupin is his friend and tries to help he. He and the narrator investigate this murder. They find trails and finally know who the murderer is. It isn't a person but an animal. It's a kind of gorilla who escaped of his owner that night. 

In my opinion this book is interesting, because you don't imagine this ending. I like this story although at the beginning I didn't understand very well. While you read you get hooked. At the moment all the stories that I read of this author talk about murder and they are very original.

MY FAVOURITE HORROR FILM

My favourite horror film is "The woman in black". I chose this film because I don't usually watch horror films and this is one of the few that I see. The genre of this film is suspense. The film is a thriller because you are all the time feeling afraid.

The film is about a man, a lawyer called Arthur Kipps who has to go in one town for a long time because of his job. He have got one mission, sell an old house. In this house lived a horrible woman in black. She died and now her spirit is in that house. Every time her spirit meets a child, the child commits suicide. The lawyer finds out that she had lost her child in an accident and this is the reason why she behaves that way. To solve the problem, the lawyer looks for the child's body and he buries it with his mother. After, the spirit seemed happy, but at the end of the film, the lawyer meets his son in the train station back home. Suddenly, the woman in black appears in front of them and the lawyer's son jumps onto the railway. The lawyer runs behind him and he dies too.

                                                                         

COMIC RELIEF

The comic relief is the inclusion of a humorous character, scene or witty dialogue in an otherwise serious work, often to relieve tension. It's often used in horror films was just before a scary scence which makes you laugh. I don't watch a lot of films with comic relief. But, I saw one in class named "Sleepy Hollow" and I laughed a bit.

SUSPENSE

The master of suspense is Hitchcock. He is the author of the film "Psycho". The characters he often used in his horror films were serial killers, psychopaths, murders and more. The technique that he used with the camera was record from the point of view of the murderer.

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR STORY (PHS), the macabre

"The Tell-Tale Heart"

The writer of this story is Edgar Allan Poe. "The Tell-Tale Heart" talks about one murderer that was obsessed with the eye of the old man. He killed an old man and hid the body under the wooden floor. Then, the police went to the house and didn't find the body. The murderer heard the beat of the heart of the old man and told the police that he was the murderer. 

The inventor of the PHS (Psychological Horror Story) is Edgar Allan Poe. The first macabre story he wrote is "Metzengerstain". Published his fisrt story in 1832. Other story that he wrote is "The Purloined Letter"

THE GOTHIC NOVEL (G.N), the first horror

The ghotic novel is a genre or mode of literature that combines non-fiction, horror and romance.The gothic novel was invented by Horace Walpole and the first was The Castle of Otranto in 1764.  

I wrote in my list his basic elements of horror for example blood, dark path, mad houses, abandoned houses, shadows, silence, subtle cold, murders, shouts... I didn't incluse in my list the basic elemts like doors grating on rusty hinges, lights in abandoned rooms and more, howls, moans....

IT MAKES ME...

There are a lot things that make me happy. For example the music, I really like this. Yesterday I was listening to music all afternoon. Another thing is meeting my friends because when I am with them I am happy.

However I feel sad when I have a problem with one of my friends, my mother... Normally when I feel sad I take my Ipod and I listen to music because this makes me happy. 

I am very stressed when I have a lot of exams, homework or when my mum shouts at me. To fight this I like watching TV first or close myself in my bedroom.

MY WORLD: MY FAVOURITE SERIE

My favourite serie is Gossip Girl. It is a serie of teenager drama. The principal plot is a blog very famous which relate everyday the gossips, conflicts of love, family and economic of one group of young multimillionairess who lives in the Upper East Side in New York. Until the end of the serie you don't know who is the Gossip GIrl. You would have never imagine that end.

The majority of these scenes are etching in the rich neighborhood of New York called Upper East Side, but there are scenes in France, Spain and more countries too. The principal characters are Serena van der Woodsen who returns from a boarder school and Blair Waldorf Serena's best friend althought they are always quarrelling. Chuck Bass is the "bad" boy in the serie and Nate Archibald is Chuck's best friend. Then, there are Dan Humphrey and his sister Jenny Humphrey who live in Brooklyn. Later will take part in the group because they aren't rich. 

It's my favourite serie althouhgt I stopped watching it. There are six season and one hundred twenty-one chapters. Last year, I used to watch one chapter every afternoon after school. Now I watching other series but I don't like them as much as Gossip Girl. This serie has got a lot of awards and there are a lot of adaptations because the original language is English.

MY WORLD: HALLOWEEN '13

Last 31st October I celebrate Halloween. It was a great experience because I went to PortAventura, in Tarragona. 

I went with my friend Ariadna and her parents. We set off the journey at six o'clock in the morning. We drove for three hours. When we arrived, we went to the hotel called "El Paso". We left the suitcase in our bedroom and then Ariadna and I went to the park. We spent all day there. We eat in the restaurants there too. The park was opened until to o'clock in the morning. As it was Halloween night there were people hiding and scaring everywhere. Also, we went to the horror house which was specially designed for that ocasion.

The next day we woke up at nine o'clock in the morning. Then, we went to the buffet and we had breakfast. When we finished, we went to the park again. We were there until nine o'clock in the night. We met with her parents at the entrance and we drove back to Castelló d'Empúries. We arrived at home around twelve o'clock at night and then we went to bed because we were really tired.

MY WORLD: ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS

I love music, when I amb sad I listen to music and this makes me happy. The style of music that I listen to is electro house. The problem is that this music normally haven't got lyrics so I don't explain a song of this style. I listen to other music styles too. In this post I explain the song called "Let her go".

The style of this song is basically pop. I think that this song is very beautiful, I like it. The group who sings it is Passenger. It's a slowly song. The lyrics are very beautiful too. The meaning of his tittle is "La deixes marxar", you can imagine what is the song about. In summary is a boy who let her go his girl and then he needed her. This is one of theses songs that relaxed me and makes me happy.

A HERO IN MY LIFE

I haven't got a hero in particular, but i think that this person is one. His name is Albert Espinosa. He was born on 5th November 1974 in Barcelona, Catalonia. His childhood wasn't easy. When he was 13 years old, the doctors detected him a cancer, and his leg was amputated. Then he suffered a cancer again and he lost one lung and part of his liver. He was in hospital for 10 years because he was very ill. I admise him because he was very brave and a great fighter. Now he is a writer, scriptwriter and more. He has made great films like "Planta 4ª" and "Héroes". He has also made the series "Polseres Vermelles". In this series he tells his life in the hospital. This series helped a lot of sick children to never lose their hope.

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE

My graphic shows that I’m very good at body smart, music smart and I’m good at myself smart and people smart. I don’t agree with I’m very good at body smart because I think I’m better in other things that number smart. I don’t like the jobs of the body smart. I like the jobs of the music smart but I don’t think I would want to do that. I like the jobs of the people smart like psychology, teacher or administrator. I agree with i'm bat at word smart and nature smart. The jobs that i prefer are from number smart, i think that i'm good in this, althougth is in five position.

THE ANIMAL IN YOU

I read the questionnaire and I found I'm a sheep. I think that this questionnaire it's right because I'm this way.

The article says that I'm affable and meek and it's true. It also says that I'm an individual person but I seek comfort with others. I don't agree with the idea that I dress conservatively. I agree with the idea that I have a strong character and a lot of concentration. It also says that I'm good at numbers so I could work as a countable or a secretary. I really agree with it. But I agree with the idea that I can work as a child rearing too, because I love children. The jobs that the questionnaire says sound good for me except basket making.

MY DREAMS

I have a lot of dreams but now I'm going to talk about one travel. In the future I want to travel all around United States. Since I was little I want to travel to New York, I love this city. But now I want to go to Florida, Miami and more too. My most difficult dream is live in the Upper East Side. My easiest dream is to become a business woman, I like this world because my father works in it but I would like to work in a nursery because I love babies.
