FINAL REFLECTION

My first post was in 2013. I talked about my dreams. I think that I can get achieve to travel to New York. This is the easier dream. The hardest one is live on the Upper East Side. I follow with the idea to be a business woman. Nowadays, I follow with the idea to be a business woman. I am a straight thinking person. Comparing with my last post, I have improved a lot my vocabulary and my grammar. i have more maturity writing. It's more easy write a text now than three years ago. 

Talking about oral presentations I improve too. I have more fluency when I speak and my pronunciation is better. However, I follow getting really nervous when I introduce something in public. I think that this never change. My first oral presentation was about Jewish milestones and the last one was about my research paper. 

During these years, I have done some podcasts. I think my best one is my London podcast because it's the last one and it's more worked than the others. Also by reason of it's my favourite. When I done it, I remembered my travel to London. It was a very good experience. I would like to go back in the future. Link

If I have to choose the best writing I don't know which is the best one. I think that there are more than one that are good. I like do your-says, because I express my opinion about one topic. The best ones are the latests because there are more worked. 

With this post I close my English blog. Doing it, I really improved my english. It's a good idea to do a blog because with the your-says you have to think about different topics and sometimes it's difficult to express what you think aboout it in a writing. News are so useful too because you read high texts and you learn lots of good vocabulary. Also because you know what happen in the world. I don't want to leave my English. I would like to learn more and more and get a very good knowledge from this language.  

DESCRIPTION (person)

When you see him, you feel a strange feeling, but I don’t know if it is good or bad. This mysterious person is a girl. She is about twenty years old. She is tall and quite slim. She has got wavy brown long hair. She looks like an actress or model because she is stunning. Her skin is like porcelain, so perfect. Besides, she seems fit. I think that she has been doing some sport quite a while. On the contrary, she seems so fragile too. I find her every day when I am back home from the university. When I see her beauty, I disconnect to the world. I am crazy about her, and above all with her big blue eyes. She loves coffee because she is always in the same bar drinking one. One day I talked with her and her voice is melodic. I think that she is from another country because when she talks, you can hear a French accent.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Human rights are the rights you have simply because you are human. They were created in 1945 by the United Nations (New York) and there are 30 human rights. 

I choose the 26th human right to talk about it. This is the right to education and it says the following things: 

• Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit. 
• Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.
• Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.

This human right is respected in some countries and violated in the others. For example: in the developing countries, there isn't this right. Children don't go to school because the odds are that there aren't schools. However, if there are probably they can't go because they have to work in order to survive him and their family. A developing country's school is very different than a school in a developed country. This is the other hand, where the right of education is respected. In the developed countries all the children go to school in a private or public, but they can go to some school. I think that this right would have to be respected in all the world because education is very important. With the education, children can have their own opinion of the world, is more difficult trick him... It will be nice that some volunteer will go to these countries in order to teach the children even if be the most basic things.                               

EDUCATION IS THE KEY, SCHOOL IS THE LOCK

"Now let me tell you something your parents will tell you: Make me proud, icreases your chances of getting a job, provides you an opportunity to be successful, your life will be a lot less stressful, education is the key". 

I choose this paragraph because I agree with that our parents tell us this, but I don't agree with what the paragraph says. Society says the same too. Parents think that if you have a degree you will be more successful in life and this isn't true. If you don't like study you can go to work in order to win money and maybe you will be able become a very important person like Steve Jobs. This famous man is an uneducated man. You can make your parents proud without having a degree. Another thing to comment is that having a degree is not synonym that getting a job related to your studies. However, if you are an educated person you have more opportunities for getting a whatever job. Finally, is not true that if you are an educated person your life will be less stressful. People who works having a degree or not can be stressful in the same way. However, studying is not easy and is so stressful. 

LONDON TASK

GET READY FOR LONDON

Near the Safestay London Holland Park we can see the Opera Holland Park, the Orangery, the Holland Park Pre-School, the Town Hall and the Kyoto Garden. 

The hostel is more or less 1hour far on foot from the center Piccadilly Circus. If you go to the center with the bus you arrive in 35 minutes and with a tube you arrive between 20 and 30 minutes.

In London, I would like to visit lots of places, but If I have to choose I pick The Coca-Cola London Eye because you can see a very amazing views from all the city. It's a major feature of London's skyline. Then, I would like to visit The Big Ben that it's the Great Bell of the clock at north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. It's the second largest four-faced chiming clock in the world. And finally, the National History Museum that it's a museum of natural history that  exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. 

The days that we are going to stay in the city, there are a lot of shows in the London theatre. I would like to see The Lion King because there is a story that I read when I was a child and I would be so happy seeing the musical of this. On Saturday night the cheapest ticket for The Lion King costs £68.00. Another musical that I would like to see is Mamma Mia! because I really like the story and when I was in the school I did our musical there. The cheapest price on Saturday night is £26.00.

CAN TECHNOLOGY MAKE A BETTER WORLD?

If we look through the years, we can see that our society has changed a lot, and one of the causes has been the technology. We can say that until now, technology has helped to make a better and also, an easy world, but we have to consider now, it's injuring us. 

We have to thank to technology all the progresses in comunications, in medicine... that we have achieved but we should think about the power that it has in us nowadays; most of us can't live without the latest technology, without the a phone or a computer, and this is a problem because we are becoming addicted and dependent. 

So, as a conclusion, we can say that technology has helped us make a better world but also, it has the power to make a worse society for the importance that we are giving to it.

RESEARCH PAPER ABSTRACT

Key words: sleep, dreams, sleep disorders, illness, ages

Do you know if you sleep well? Lots of people suffer from some sleep disorders and they are not aware of it. They think that disorders like insomnia are not as important as could be other illnesses. With this research paper we can state that night rest is far more important than what we think. Appart from that, the essay also reffers to different kinds of dreams which are highly related to sleep. 

DIALOGUE

Characters: Kol, Flower. 

Scenario: Flower's house, we're taking a coffe and talking about life because we haven't seen since las night when we went out to the disco. 

Kol: I was thinking about last night and I think that I would like to operate my boobs. 

Flower: Why?

K: Because I think that they are too small.

F: But they are always been like that.

K: That's why, I think that I need a change. 

F: Have you thought about that? Your boobs can explote in a plane! I've seen it in the news. 

K: Oh Flower, don't be such killjoy! I never take planes, you know it. 

F: That's right, but where do you want to be operated?

K: I want to go to the USA, where the best plastic surgeons are. 

F: But this is too expensive! 

K: Don't worry, I have some savings... which with I wanted to buy a new house....

F: Really? I don't believe that you prefere having two big boobs than a good house!

THE ROLES OF WOMEN

The roles of women have changed a lot in our society in the last 100 years.  Before they couldn't do anything and nowadays women can do things like man like work. However, although they do the same job the salary is not the same. There isn't a real gendes equality.This happens in the developed countries where women can work because in the underdeveloped countries the roles of women are the same like 100 years ago. Unfortunately there are countries where women are not value as they deserve. 

In the book we can see that women normally must stay at home looking after their husband. In the 21th centuary this also happens but not like a husband years ago. Women aren't a decorative sex like in the book say, I think that women have the same importance as the men and that they can do the same things like study, teach and more. 

IS HUMOUR NECESSARY?

After doing some research, I definitely agree that humour is absolutely necessary in our life for many reasons.

All people say that humour is good for our health. But why? There are many reasons to prove this thought. Laughter relaxes the whole body, boosts the immune system, increases the production of salivary immunoglubin A, which defends against infectious organisms... Also protects the heart by improving the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help you against a heart attack or other cardiovascular problems. 

Futhermore, laughter has social benefits as well. The action of laughing strengthens relationships, promotes group bonding and helps you to defuse conflict. Moreover, laughter and mental health are connected because laughter dissolves distressing emotions and helps you relax and recharge. 

In conclusion, we can prove that humour is clearly necessary in our life. You must include humour in our life and also in our relationships because it allows us to be more spontaneous, ge rid of defensiveness and more. 

THE KEY TO SUCCESS? GRIT

When she was 27 years old, she left her job in consulting to become a teacher of Math to seventh graders students in a New York public school. After five years teaching, she realised that the students' IQ is not the most important when talking about academic results. What was much more important was an understanding of the students themselves and their learning process from a phsycological and motivational prespective. So, she decided to go back to university to study phsycology. 

She and her research team studied how students and even adults behave in life. After their ressearch, they came to the point that there are important things to take into account to success in life but these things are not having a  good look or having a great social intelligence... She believes that the word GRIT is the key. 

Grit is passion and perseverance for very long term goals, grit is stiking with your future, day in and day out, not just for a week, not just for a month but for years and working really hard to make that future a reality. She started studying the term grit and passed grit questionnaires among her students. In the video she states  that the most shocking thing about grit is being concious how we built it. 

My opinion:

I definitely agree with what she says in her talk. I agree that passing the IQ test with a high mark is not the most important aim. I think that you may have a high level of knowledgements but you may not be practical enough to face life. I think that growing students' grid is very important to help them to cope with their future. However, I know that it's a hard work for teachers to reach it.

EMAIL TO MY TEACHER

Hello Sònia, 

As you asked us, I'm sending you an email to introduce myself and tell you about my future dreams. 

My name is Sandra and I'm 17 years old. I live in a small village called Torroella de Fluvià. As you know I'm in second level of batxillerat. In my free time I like going shopping, meeting with my friends, listening to music and reading books. 

I know that this school year will be really hard and I'm aware of the big struggle that I will have to fight, hoping to have a great success. One of my dreams is to become a good broker or economist because I really like the financial world. Since I was a child, my father has been teaching me this world because he is an economist. Another dream is to discover the world around us as I haven't travelled much. The first country I would really like to visit is USA. I think this country is amazing and has many cities and places to visit.

YOUR-SAY: APPLE COMPANY

Last September the 9th, the Apple Company presented its new mobile. There are two different models: One is the Iphone 6 which costs 699€ and it's the improved version from the last one. Iphone 6 is bigger too. Then, the other model is Iphone 6 Plus which is like the Iphone 6 but it's ever bigger than Iphone 6. Iphone 6 Plus costs 799€. If you want more than 16GB the price rises. 

In my opinion, I wouldn't buy this new Iphone right now because It's as new that people may not know if it works well. It may have some problems. Then, talking about its size I think that it's too big and the Iphone 6 Plus it's very bigger. 

I have got Iphone 5S and in my opinion this size is the best one. I have had this mobile for one month now. I really like IOS system. Only Iphones mobile have got this system. The camera has a better quality than the other mobiles that I used to have.

One disadvantage of this system is that you have to pay for some apps applications but there are cheap. Another disadvantage is taht in Iphones mobiles you can't put a memory card. So each Iphone model has its own memory. You can chose how many GB you want in your mobile. However, the more GB, the more expensive. 



Since they started making the first iphone in 2007, they have made 10 models until now. Last year, they created the Iphone 5C that is the improved version of the Iphone 5 but with worse material so that's why it's cheapper and people can afford it. As well, people like it because it's very colorful. Although, nowadays there are new models in the market people still buys Iphone 5C.

REVIEW: IN TIME

In time is an American film of science fictions mainly and intrigue too. The director is Andrew Niccol and the protagonists are Justin Timberlake (Will Salas) and Amanda Seyfried (Sylvia Weis). This film premiered October 28th of 2011. 

Synopsis:                                                                                                       

In a future society in 2161, people can live without complications and grew up until the age of 25 years old. Then, they stop ageing and they have only a year of time to live so they have to work to earn time. All it's paid by time since luxuries until necessities. Rich people can live forever but the other people have to negotiate each minute of their life and the poor people die young. Will Salas, the main character is a poor young boy of 28 years old. In the beginning of the film her mother die because her time ends. One day, Will meet in a bar some boys who are trying to steal the time to a rich man, Will help him and this man express her gratitude giving all of this years while Will is slepping. When he wakes up he has a million of years in his counter. He go to the rich part of the city meanwhile police followed his because they think that Will has stolen that time. There, he know a rich girl and during the film Will abduct Sylvia whos is a son's rich man. First of all she is angry but at the end she fall in love for him.                                                  
I have seen this film three times that I remembered. I have chosen this film because although be an old film I really like it. I recommend you to look it if you don't see this film before. I specially like the plot because I think that's very original. The effects are very good too.

YOUR-SAY: DOUBLE-CHECK IN WHATSAPP

First of all, I think that this new option of WhatsApp is a nonsense because before, you could know if your message had been read, looking at the last connection of the contact. As well, you can know if your message had been sent it had one check, and had been received it had double check. 

Secondly, to my mind It's useful in the WhatsApp groups because in this way you can see who has read your message and who hasn't. Before, in a group you couldn't know it. 
In the audios, the blue double-check used in the past to know if the contact had listened the audio. 

I think that this can have problems because there are people that are very obsessed looking at their whatsapp all the time and with this new option it will be more catching for them. Moreover, people can get angry if they know that their message had been read and the contact didn't answer them.

However, technician of Whatsapp are working because you can deactivate this option like you can do with deactivate the last connection. But if you decide that the other people don't know when you had read the messages you can't know if yours had been read. I personally think that you can chose activate or deactivate this option is a good idea.

                                                                  

NEWS: WHAT TO DO WITH LEFTOVER FOOD OR WINE FROM RESTAURANT?

I chose this news because when I read it in a magazine I was surprised by the topic. The magazine is Catalonia Today, number 0373, page 11. 

Summary: 
The other day a family went to a restaurant to celebrate something special. It was an expensive restaurant. The servings were very abundant and they couldn't finish the second course. Moreover, they decided to order two bottles of wine and they didn't finish the second bottle either. When they paid the bill, they talked about asking the waiter to pack the leftovers. As you may know, this is something very usual in the USA. At the end, they didn't agree so they decided to leave all the food and wine there. Does it make sense to you? Don't you think that people should ask for the leftovers and take them at home? Millions of people around the world are dying of hunger.

My opinion: 
I agree with the idea of taking at home the leftovers because you have already payed for them. Food can't be thrown away as in other countries people are dying of hunger. In my opinion we don't have to waste food. I don't know what I would do in this situation because I agree with this idea but I also think it's embarasing. 

YOUR-SAY: HOMOSEXUALITY

First of all, I think that homosexuality has to be accepted by all of the people because being homosexual isn't a bad thing and you aren't less than a heterosexual person. Everybody must have the right to be with who they want. Society has advanced a lot in matters like technology, medicine... but not in perspectives like homosexuality. There are people who have revulsion to these people. They have homophobia. 

In my view, there are most homophobic men than women. For example, in my age if I ask a boy what is his opinion about a couple of gays they normally answer that it is disgusting. And if you ask the same question to a girl, she answers that it isn't as bad, and that they have the same rights to be couple like a man and a woman. 

Now, I will talk about weddings and adoptions done by homosexuals. I will put the example of Spain because is my country. Here, weddings have been accepeted since 2005. Before a homosexual couple  couldn't get married. Nowadays, there are countries like Peru or China that don't accept it yet. Other countries like Arabia Saudi or Sudan they have a death sentence for being homosexual.

Then, talking about adoptions if it's difficult in a couple of woman and man in a homosexual couple is twice difficult. In Spain, a homosexual couple can adopt a child. Moreover, like weddings there are a lot of countries that don't accept this because they think that one child can't be grown up well without a paternal or maternal figure. 

In conclusion, I would like that in the future a homosexual couple can be accepted all around the world.
